NH Seacoast Farmers Markets: 5 Favorites!

NH Seacoast Farmers Markets

5 Favorite NH Seacoast Farmers Markets

Do you have a Saturday morning ritual to kick off the weekend? Some people grab a cup of coffee and head to the beach to walk Fido...others flock to NH Seacoast farmers markets and family farms for fresh local products and to shoot the breeze with farmers and neighbors. Going to the farmers market makes shopping a whole lot of fun, not a chore. It's a community hub a place to meet up with your friends, bring your children and savor small-town life on the Seacoast. This weekend marks the opening of the Portsmouth Farmers Market, perhaps the most popular 'summer' market of all!

Portsmouth Farmers Market is where friends and neighbors gather every Saturday morning during the 'season' to share the experience of a community market with over 60vendors. You'll find freshly roasted local coffee and organic teas...and don't miss the delicious breakfast sandwiches made to order from Kellie Brook Farm! Shop for local, naturally grown produce, pasture-raised meat, farm-fresh eggs, and all kinds of specialty food items. Or, just hang out and enjoy live entertainment by market musicians...with spectacular views of the South Mill Pond and Market Square Steeple!

Wentworth Greenhouses in Rollinsford NH is home to both summer and winter farmers' markets. In fact, the latter may be the premier indoor NH Seacoast farmers market! On a cold Saturday, it's great to warm up inside the greenhouses, surrounded by friendly people, delicious food, great music, and tons of information about local food and cooking...free activities for the little ones, too. And, when On the Edge Knife Sharpening is at the market, you can bring your own kitchen knives to have them professionally hand sharpened! Very cool.

Exeter hosts two NH Seacoast farmers markets: a summer market on Thursday afternoons atSwazey Parkway along the Squamscott River and a winter market on Saturday mornings at Exeter High School. You'll find local gems like Throwback Brewery, one of our favorite brew farms, and New Roots Farm, a certified organic farm that also offers a Summer's Bounty Share to feed your family with a diverse array of fresh produce during the growing season!

Durham, home to the University of New Hampshire, is where you want to be on Monday afternoons from June through September. Head over to the farmers market at Jackson's Landing and grab a bag of Sugarmomma's maple popcorn or maple cotton candy (warning: highly addictive!).

Dover hosts two Seacoast farmers markets in the summer: one on Wednesday afternoons at the Chamber of Commerce and the other on Sunday at Henry Law Park. Youll find a wide variety of vendors, friendly faces, music, and local, delicious food! After your shopping, head on over to Dovers Adventure Playground at Henry Law Park, a perfect way to spend a day with your family!

So, get out and support our local farmers and economy...enjoy the color, creativity, and beehive-like buzz of our community! You'll find us wandering the maze of vendors at our NH Seacoast farmers markets...and when you do, please say hello!
