5 NH Seacoast Resolutions

5 NH Seacoast Resolutions 2017

Happy New Year, Everyone!

In this most 'aspirational' season, it's time to set your goals and intentions for making this year your very best. We've come up with a list of 5 NH Seacoast Resolutions for 2022...suggestions for improving the quality of your life, finding inspiration in the Seacoast's natural beauty, and supporting our vibrant local economy.

  1. Stock your Kitchen. First up in our list of 5 NH Seacoast Resolutions is FOOD. You know the old saying, 'You are what you eat!' Eating healthier is the most common resolution we make each new year, after the free-for-all, holiday bingeing in which we indulge from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day. Go ahead, gather up all of your leftover junk food and either give it away or toss it in the trash. Set your intention for healthy eating and craft a new and improved shopping list to stock your kitchen with fresh, nutritious food. Whether you like to shop at small, local, independent stores and farms, or regional chains like DeMoulas Market Basket, you'll find everything you need...and though they're not small or local, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are loaded with healthy foods and it's great to have them both in Portsmouth!

  2. Get Your Fit On. Turn off the TV, set your intention for physical activity, and turn up the intensity! The Seacoast area is a serious fitness hub. If you prefer being outside, enjoying nature, the options are limitless...perhaps a power walk on the beach (the stretch of sand linking Rye's Cable, Jenness and Sawyers Beaches is one of our favorites) or a hike at York's Mount Agamenticus? And if you need the extra push of a group environment, there's no shortage of amazing venues...sign up for training at Great Bay Strength & Fitness in Newington, drop in at Portsmouth's Mission Fitness studio (enjoy cycle, barre, pilates and strength classes, set to the perfect playlist), get fit with longtime Seacoast favorite LizFit, hit the machines at one of many Planet Fitness locations or enjoy a little bit of everything at Seacoast Sports Clubs.

  3. Engage Your Mind. Spend more time stimulating your brain with page-turners, and a little bit less glued to the television or surfing social media channels. Set your intention...will it be a book a month? Historical fiction, popular thrillers, or how-tos? Download an e-book for free via your local library membership (we love Rye Public Library), pick up a hardcover at RiverRun Bookstore or stop by Portsmouth Book & Bar, an old-fashioned browser's bookshop offering food and drink. We love The Music Hall's Writers on a New England Stage series, check it out here.

  4. Low Tech Reconnect. Make it a point to connect on a more personal level and enjoy more face time (and we don't mean the Apple iPhone/iPad kind) with the people you care about. If you want to reach out, opt for a live phone call or a handwritten note over a text or tweet. Portsmouth's Gus & Ruby Letterpress is chock full of wonderful cards and stationery sure to elicit smiles and positive thoughts. Go the extra mile to make plans and meet at one of the Seacoast's amazing bakery-coffee shops, like Elephantine Bakery and Beach Pea. Or take it a step further by hosting a catered dinner party in the comfort of your home...one of our favorites is 'Date Night' gourmet meal delivery from Rye's The Fifth Flavor (Chef Nina will make you look like a rockstar).

  5. Declutter, Get Organized and Spruce Your Space. And our fifth NH Seacoast Resolution...out with the old, in with the new! Make a commitment to parting with things that you haven't used or enjoyed in the last 6 months...if the voices in your head start rationalizing reasons to hang on to 'stuff' that you don't need, read this article by Snappy Living for strength. And when you feel that it's time to invest in home improvements, check out Crisp Architects' blog for inspiration, contact our team for insight on potential renovation ROI and, when you're feeling ready to trade up, down or laterally for a new lifestyle, we'd be happy to connect you with one of our favorite home staging professionals (Spruce Interiors is amazing) to whip your home into shape before sending our photographer over for professional photos.
