South Hampton
South Hampton NH is home to about 1,000 people who share the common vision of preserving their town’s rural character...hence, business permits are restricted and residential construction is limited. Like neighboring Hampton Falls, South Hampton is a bedroom community for professionals commuting to work in Massachusetts. Those who live here treasure the serenity and beauty of this peaceful town. Its small, thickly-wooded neighborhoods and unspoiled farmland offer respite from the outside world and great quality of life. For a small town, there’s a lot to do here! You’ll find a municipal park with a tennis court, hiking, biking and cross-country skiing trails, fishing spots and organized youth sports (including baseball, basketball and soccer). The property tax rate (2024: $13.80) is inline with surrounding towns. The community is part of School Administrative Unit (SAU) 21, with students attending kindergarten through the eighth grade at the South Hampton Barnard School and moving on to Amesbury High School over the MA border for grades nine through twelve.
